The Evolution of Recruitment Technology

The Evolution of Recruitment Technology Recruitment technology has changed extensively since the early days, and with the birth of social media its become a lot more interactive. Here are some of the main points of its history, courtesy of TalentBin. Takeaways: In the pre-computer era, jobs were found via bulletin boards and newspapers, whereas passive candidates were found via resume archives and phone sourcing. In the pre-web era, job markets were difficult to get into, so candidates had to be specialised. E-mails emerged as the main communication method, with computers and applicant tracking systems being used to find passive candidates. In 1995 (the Early Web), online job boards and classifieds expanded the distribution of job postings and also created resume databases which became available to recruiters, on sites such as Monster. In 2005 (the Late Web), job aggregators were making finding jobs easier, whilst LinkedIn compiled over 161 million online professional profiles. In 2012, the social web has made it easier for job distributions to reach new channels (with over 175 million tweets a day), and for passive candidates to be discovered. Teeth Whitening Tips For Brighter Smiles

Teeth Whitening Tips For Brighter Smiles White teeth produce an image of health, vitality, and cleanliness. Some teeth whitening tips below may help you obtain or retain the white smile you want! Why do teeth become discoloured? Over the span of a lifetime, teeth may become discoloured from a variety of products or health habits such as: Smoking Drinking coffee and tea Poor dental hygiene Disease Diet Age Certain medications Age is a normal process and as we age, so do our teeth. Just like wrinkles form and hair turns gray, teeth begin to yellow. Drinking coffee and tea create stains on the outer enamel of the teeth, which may appear as yellowish. Some medications such as some antibiotics cause a yellowing of the teeth with prolonged use. Poor diet and lacking hygiene also create a less that sparkly smile. There are two main methods of teeth whitening- Intrinsic and Extrinsic whitening. Intrinsic whitening whitens the inner part of the tooth, while extrinsic whitening removes yellowing from the outside of the tooth. Intrinsic whitening products include bleaching and whitening gel. Extrinsic whitening products brighten the outside enamel or covering of the tooth. While aging cannot be prevented, maintaining white teeth may be perceived as a sign of health, wellness and vitality. In recent years teeth whitening has become a multi-million-dollar business and extremely popular. Who doesn’t want to have an attractive healthy-looking smile? While some methods of teeth whitening can be costly, not all of them will pinch your pocket book. Many products are now sold over the counter in most grocery or drug stores. Gel toothpastes, whitening strips, and other products fill the shelves in any dental section. But not all of these products produce the affects you desire, along with a safe manner of use. Always follow package instructions when using teeth whitening products. So how do I know which product is the best? Selecting the most expensive over the counter product does not guarantee the best product for your individual use. As with any other health care product, every person is different, and may react differently to the same item. Prior to any at home whitening product usage, research options and other products or methods. Selecting the right one for you is key, while making a poor choice can be costly. Many home remedies are circulating in ads, newspapers, and the internet. While some may be beneficial and be the right product for your desired outcome, some may not be. While they are economical, it is best practice to ask your dentist which products are safe for you. Whitening teeth should be like the icing on the cake. First a healthy set of teeth and gums will lay the foundation for success and complete the picture you desire with a beautiful white smile. With multiple options and the stigma associated with yellowed teeth, each individual must ensure that the product they are using will produce the result expected. Consult with your dental professional for the most accurate source of information. Avoid hype or scams that may harm your teeth. Research products and cost so that you spend your money wisely.

My 3 Golden Rules for Remote Workers - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

My 3 Golden Rules for Remote Workers - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career Ive been working remotely for the past nearly 5 years. I have a home office, I have a local cafe, I get terrific amounts of work done and Im far more productive than when I worked in an office day in and day out. Sorry, Marissa Mayer, I get more done outside of an office. Here are my 3 golden rules for telecommuting success. Work in blocks of time Take your day and break it up into chunks of time. Spend a few minutes every morning (or afternoon if youre a Night Owl like Aaron Levie) to map out your day. Give yourself reasonable amounts of time for each task with some breathing room between tasks. Give yourself space to check your email and to read industry articles. Know that you dont need to be productive with every second of your day, you need to be super-productive with your productive time. I like to structure my days around 1 major task and three or four smaller tasks. I can focus and work on one task for an extended period of time, usually 2 hours around 10am to noon and another two hours from about 2pm-4pm. I can then get the smaller tasks done during the other times. In structuring weeks, I just list the items that Id like to get done, then I map those into my daily routines. I try not to be too forward looking in my tasks because at a certain point, my crystal ball simply cannot factor in all of the potential changes that tend to occur. Get out of your house Cafes and coffee shops are sometimes awful to work from, but seriously, get out of your house. If you spend all of your time in isolation, youll eventually go stir crazy. Its fine to unplug and take your laptop to a park on occasion, its a great place to get writing work done. If youve got your day mapped out, you know when you can turn off the internet, get some sunlight and write.  Search out other places that you can work from, you may be surprised at some of the local places where you can get great wifi and great food. You time is sacred Just because youre working from home doesnt mean that all home time is work. Work time has a tendency to encroach on your personal time when youre a remote worker, dont let it. For me, Saturday and Sunday are off limits unless I have to travel. I dont do any work, I try not to respond to email, weekends are my personal time. Nights Im somewhat more lenient with because I have the flexibility to take some mornings and make them personal time. When I had stricter working hours, my nights too, were off limits beyond 6pm. You need to make sure youre taking the time to do things that you enjoy, otherwise, why work?

Your Reputation Is Too Important To Dismiss

Your Reputation Is Too Important To Dismiss Your personal reputation is too important to dismiss. Katrina Collier and Ryan Rhoten are my guests as we talk about why your online reputation (personal brand) is so important to your career. Whether you prefer to call it your personal brand or personal reputation, just be sure you pay attention to it! And while this was recorded in 2015, it is still relevant today! Your Reputation: What You Need To Know I chatted with Katrina Collier, The Searchologist, @KatrinaMCollier and Ryan Rhoten, RyanRhoten @RyanRhoten  and they shared valuable information that EVERYONE needs to hear! Three questions guided our 30-minute conversation: Job seekers need to know this Branding means Recruiters wish candidates knew this Katrina is a recruiter in the UK who presents and writes on how recruiters can/should use  social media. Ryan Rhoten writes, speaks and hosts podcasts on the different aspects of personal branding. I think its important to understand a recruiters perspective! And Katrina is definitely dishing out honest, human-focused tips for both recruiters and job seekers. Social recruiting is a big thing and will continue to be leveraged to help people stay connected. Sure, we can use LinkedIn, but its not where the action is among those who are employed. LinkedIn is viewed by many as a platform to visit when you need a jobnot to manage your knowledge. (This is slowly changing). Katrina Collier just published her first book The Robot-Proof Recruiter available on Amazon. And Ryan Rhoten wrote CareerKred which is also available on Amazon.

How to Write a Good CV and Resume

How to Write a Good CV and ResumeIf you want to know how to write a good CV and resume, then you can follow these easy steps. A good CV is the first thing that you should do before you even go into an interview. To begin with, you should make sure that you have a full profile, which includes your education, employment history, hobbies, awards, current residence, as well as other details. The resume you write should have all of this information listed in it. You also need to have details about any education you have had, such as the schools you have attended, the amount of time you have spent there, whether or not you are still a student, the types of courses you took and more.In the job application process, employers look for someone who knows what they are doing and they will see through a poor-written CV and resume. An employer will notice all the blank spaces, the errors, and this could lead to someone being passed over for a better candidate. So it is extremely important that you write an impressive CV and resume to show employers what you are made of.Another important step in how to write a good CV and resume is choosing the right topic for your subject matter. If you have ever written an essay for school, you have probably noticed that essays tend to be written about a single topic. On the other hand, an employer is looking for someone who is knowledgeable in a certain field, not just someone who knows how to spell a word. This is the most important point to remember, so make sure that you write about the type of field you are seeking employment in. Also, write about the best subjects you have the knowledge of, the one you are passionate about.Resume writing is not rocket science. There are books and websites that teach you how to do it effectively, but if you just go by what other people tell you, you will probably come up with something that does not reflect who you are as a person. So the best way to know what to put on your resume is to use what you kno w, what you are good at, and what you love. When you have prepared yourself to write a good resume and have done everything that you can think of to make it attractive, your CV and resume writing will take on a whole new meaning. Then you will be confident about the things that you say when you are applying for jobs. Being confident is what employers look for, so make sure that you make it count.
